What do you think of when you think of cream kitchen cabinets? Are you picturing an overly ornamental 90’s rustic cream kitchen? Or maybe a super cliche french country kitchen from the early 2000s? Or maybe, you love the elegant and warm look of cream cabinets, but in a world of white kitchens you struggle to know how it would look in your modern kitchen design. If you’re starting a kitchen remodel, we beg you to consider the cream kitchen trend, not as your Grandma used it, but as a great choice for YOUR kitchen.
Cream kitchens have grown in popularity over the past few years. There are many reasons to go with a cream kitchen, the main one being it’s a completely timeless look. Cream is warmer than white, instead of crisp and bright you get rich and luxurious. It’s a calming and inviting look that helps you create a cozy heart of the home (because that’s what the kitchen should be!).
Whether you love modern kitchens, the rustic farmhouse look or something in between, here are a few contemporary ways to use cream kitchen cabinets.
Mixed Styles
We love the way this kitchen from Studio McGee mixes cabinet and drawer styles with a combination of glass fronts, shaker style and flat. The finished look is creamy and current, especially with the brass cabinet pulls, blue-gray stove and the stunning marble backsplash and countertops.
Cream and White Kitchen Ideas
Who says you can’t mix white and cream? This kitchen shows that you can, and it’s beautiful! We love the bright white with the warmer cream tones on the island. The dark wood on the oven hood and wall is a perfect complement to the look and the brass light fixtures are the cherry on top!
Cream Cabinets with Gold Pulls
The Hightower Showroom at the Mart in Chicago is a beautiful example of how to modernize the cream cabinet trend. We’re obsessed with the gold pulls and terrazzo style countertop in this kitchen! The arched nook and open shelving add functionality and style.
Cream Cabinets and Gray Cabinets
Cream and gray pair very well together as long as they are the same tone. We love the look of these cream cabinets with this blue-gray island. The white ceiling makes the whole kitchen pop and the stainless appliances and light fixtures are a great complement.
Modern Cream Cabinets
If you love a modern or mid-century kitchen, then take your inspiration from this stunning space. The floor to ceiling built-ins with flat front cabinets and mixed pull handles give this an extremely contemporary look.

Cream and Black
Add contrast to the traditional look of cream cabinets with black cabinet knobs, light fixtures and black granite countertops. This look works best in spaces with a lot of natural light and a bright paint color.
The Rustic Cream Kitchen
Cream shaker cabinets, brass pulls, shiplap walls and a beautiful veined marble give this kitchen a distinctly rustic farmhouse vibe.

Cream as a Neutral
Cream is a neutral and we see that clearly in this beautiful kitchen by Christina Wikman Interiors. The white subway tile, farmhouse sink, gold cabinet knobs and open shelving give this space a modern and elegant feel.
Cream Cabinets & Wood Countertops
For a country kitchen, we love the mix of butcher block countertops and cream cabinets. The dark and warm tone of the counter and slate flooring are cozy and functional for country living.
Cream & Mosaic Tile Backsplash
Mosaic tiles make a great backsplash for most kitchens, but it looks particularly well in this all cream kitchen. The blue and white backsplash is complemented with the kitchen decor. The curtains, bar stools and globe light fixture make this kitchen truly elegant and timeless.

Navy and Cream Kitchen
It’s no secret we love navy blue kitchen cabinets, but we love the look even more when it’s complemented with cream kitchen cabinets. There’s an almost nautical vibe to this kitchen with a navy blue island and traditional cream shaker cabinets.
Glossy Cream Kitchen Cabinets
If you like a modern European style kitchen, go with glossy cream cabinets in your kitchen design. This streamlined look is clean and functional and a great choice for kitchens with a small footprint. Pair it with a wood accents to bring a bit of warmth and fun lighting for a pop of color.
We would love to hear from you! What do you think of cream kitchen cabinets?
Do you by any chance know the wall colors in any of these photos? Thank you!
Hi Hannah, no, I am sorry I don’t!
I have cream colored raised panel cabinets in my kitchen with laminate countertops. I would like to replace the countertops with quartz but not sure what would look good with the cream color cabinet. Could you offer some suggestions in the white family quartz that would compliment the cabinets??? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
